Future Laptops have arrived carrying shapes and designs as were never conceived before. No longer is it necessary for laptops to carry the traditional flat and slightly rectangular shape. In some time'' it would be passe and almost unfashionable to be seen carrying a laptop of such an ancient design..Laptops sure have grown in popularity over the last few years and many people are using them as a key component in everyday events.Business men and women use them to stay organized,Students use them for homework and laptops are also used at home for bill paying ,games for the kids,internet work,office work. Because they are becoming so popular, the laptop companies have increased their productivity of them and have added plenty of new features and ( application ).

One of the recent trends in laptop technology is the touch screen. These laptop companies are vastly producing a good majority of their laptops now integrated with touch screens. As consumers become used to using touch screen technology on cell phones,  ATM’s,''airport kiosks'', and others, it was only an amount of time before we got this same technology available for all consumers for our mobile laptop computers.

Touch screen technology is nothing new but is just recently beginning to blow up.Laptops are switching to touch screens because of the new operating systems that are coming out are designed to work with the touch screens. It’s taken most companies a while to integrate the softwere and Hardwere perfectly so that there will be no problems once they do release them.

Just like the touch screen cell phones that we are all used to, the touch screens on the laptops will allow us to manually manipulate images. You will be able to use your touch to zoom out, zoom in, cut and paste, and scroll through them easily. You will also be able to navigate the screen much more easily than with a mouse. This way you won’t have to locate the mouse on the screen or feel uncoordinated with its awkward movements.

One of the most anticipated laptops is the new laptop Tablet that is so thin that you can carry it with you easily in your Backpack or Purse. This new laptop is going to be the new cell phone of our time. It will take over all of the tasks that your cell phone is now doing, but at a more convenient and easier to read screen.

Imagine being able not having to carry around  Note books, notebooks,books, pens, folders or pencils if you are a student. Just one light weight touch screen tablet will be able to store, feed, and display everything you’ll need. Not only will this cut down on paper waste, but it will make travel much easier and make just about everything more convenient.

Opry Mills Mall to Reopen Spring 2012

All I have to say, is it’s about damn time! And this may be old news, but its news to me!

Opry Mills Mall, as we know, was heavily damaged in the May 2010 flood with property damage over $200 million. The empty facility has been a constant reminder of the devastation our city endured one year ago and the continual efforts to restore Nashville to the city it was. As the building sat and the months dragged on, Mall customers became anxious, posting inquisitive comments on Opry Mills Mall’s Facebook fan page. And for nearly a year, Simon Properties, which owns the Mall, has remained silent. A message on the Opry Mills Mall official website had referred guests to their Facebook page for updates, which gave little to no details on recovery efforts. But now, the message on the Mall’s website reads:

“Dear Friends of Opry Mills,

We are excited to announce that Opry Mills, one of Tennessee’s top tourist attractions as well as the largest outlet, value retail and entertainment destination in the state, will reopen and once again greet shoppers in Spring 2012. Efforts to rebuild this iconic shopping destination are beginning immediately.

Signaling Opry Mills’ future success, most of the previous retailers and dining options have committed to be part of the reopening, a few examples include Saks Fifth Avenue OFF 5TH, Banana Republic Factory Store, J.Crew Factory, Brooks Brothers Factory Store, Ann Taylor Factory Store, Victoria’s Secret, Tommy Hilfiger Company Store, Off Broadway Shoes, a greatly expanded Forever 21, Regal Cinemas Opry Mills Stadium 20 & IMAX, Dave & Buster’s, Rainforest Café and Aquarium Restaurant, . Joining them and Bass Pro Shops, which has already reopened, are Coach Factory Store, Calvin Klein, Tommy Bahama Outlet, Talbots, Chico’s, White House Black Market, Under Armour Factory House, and The LEGO Store.

According to WSMV, Opry Mills President Gregg Goodman said, “This will be a fast and furious project.” Additionally, the 2012 reopening of the mall will bring 3,000 new jobs to the area and approximately $26 million in sales tax per year. Weekend Update: Franklin Festival, Marti & Liz, and General Awesomeness

This past weekend was filled with relaxation, good wine, and even better friends. After recently finishing up another intensive and stressful doctorate course, I just needed one of those chill kind of weekends, and I think I succeeded. 

Friday evening was spent with my new fashion friend, Naomi Cox. Naomi is Manager of the Wolford store in Green Hills Mall (looooove their tights) and is co-producing this year's Naked Without Us fashion and music festival. After a failed attempt to hit up the 1st Annual Nashville Stache Bash, we relaxed at her apartment, sipping wine, obsessing over her adorable dog, and talking fashion with a few other folks. It was just the Friday evening I was looking for. When I got home I curled into bed and spent the next three hours watching Deliverance on AMC like a total creep. Gah.

Kinda bummed we missed this!

Saturday was spent doing some necessary and borish cleaning during the day, then the Franklin Main Street Festival that evening. I was ridiculously excited about this because I used to regularly attend events like this when I lived in Lexington and absolutely love the small town charm of art and craft festivals. Oh, and bad carnival food- I die for unnecessary eats like corndogs and chocolate covered bananas.

The event was to last until 10:00, as indicated on the flyer, so I grabbed up my gal pal Katie McEldoon, made the thirty minute drive to Franklin, TN, and arrived around 7:00. Even though the clouds were looming overhead, we were lucky it didn't rain. However, I think some of the vendors got a little anticipatory of inclement weather and began closing up shop around 7:30 and 8:00. I was disappointed I didn't get to see all of the vendors, because I absolutely love browsing hand made merchandise like colorful jewelry, photography, aromatic soaps, and other items. I was also absolutely surprised all of the boutiques on Main Street were closed! Most are only opened until 5:00 on Saturdays (which I think is a little weird to begin with), but not keeping shop open on the one weekend a year you know hundreds of potential customers will be walking past your store is just a poor business decision! That being said, What's In Store was still open, so Katie and I browsed through racks of sale clothes and jewelry, but ultimately left empty handed.

As the vendors started closing up shop and the $5 bbq sandwiches had been eaten, Katie and I headed down the street where we saw a rickety parking lot carnival we absolutely HAD to check out. The place was packed wall to wall with anxious tweens and Katie and I ultimately got fixated on this one 'Hamster Wheel' attraction. I think we stood there about fifteen minutes, watching little kids climb into giant inflatable balls and bumble around an enclosure as they bounced into each other. I had to grab a few shots of this ridiculousness taking place in front of me:

I had to grab a shot of myself and Katie with this absurdity happening in the background. (You can't really see it, but that's my new favorite gold necklace purchased at Local Honey.)

After the parking lot carnival, I demanded we check out a shoe store in Franklin my friend Naomi had told me about the night earlier- Marti & Liz. Have you been there?! OMG. My new obsession. The place is located at 2000 Mallory Lane in Franklin, TN in an unimpressive strip mall next to a Kroger. And honestly, the interior of the building isn't much to look at either- gondolas filled with unboxed shoes create shopping rows like a grocery store. 

I'm not sure exactly where Marti & Liz gets their shoes, but you can find an array of brands here like Michael Kors, Coach, Aldo, Nine West, BCBG, Dolce Vita, and more. And seriously, these shoes are CHEAP! I only made off with one pair this trip, some beautiful Nine West platforms priced at $24.99 pictured below. And these things retail for $90!!

These kicks are ridiculously hotttt..

Katie made out with a great pair of comfortable black wedges perfect for the work day and a pair of pewter Dolce Vita lace up wedges- both for around $50. 

Ok, seriously, this place is ABSURD, and I even considered keeping this little gem to myself. After talking with a sales rep, I found out they get new shipments in every Thursday and they never know what they'll have in stock next. However, you do have to be a little mindful. Some of the shoes were a little worn looking, and I almost made out with a pair of insanely sexy Michael Kors black stiletto booties, until I realized the left shoe was a size 7 1/2 and the right shoe was a size 8. I guess you just have to be careful on that one. But, you are sure to find some great deals here. 

I did look Marti & Liz up online, couldn't find a website and their Facebook page had only one fan. Weird. Also, reviewers on Yelp.com had mixed things to say about this retailer, including:

The Good:

"This place is the reason I own over 100 pairs of shoes.  A couple of years ago when I heard that a Marti & Liz was opening right down the road from my office I started bouncing off the walls in anticipation.  It is such a blessing, but is also totally sinful because I don't really NEED half of what I buy.  But who cares at an average price of $20-$25 a pair?!?!

Name brand shoes of all shapes and sizes can be found:  Nine West, Aldo, Steve Madden, Charles David, BCBG, Carlos Santana, Enzo, Kenneth Cole, Via Spiga, the list goes on and on.  New shipments are put out on the shelves on Thursdays, so that's usually when I can be found slowly roaming up and down the aisles. 

They have a little bit of everything, and some weeks are better than others, so the more often you go, the more luck you'll have." - Beth W. 

The Semi-Bad:

"Be careful when you do shop here though. From my understanding they sell these shoes so cheap because they have previously been worn on the runway. Even though they have only been worn once it is still important to look for wear and tear before purchasing.  And keep in mind that they only do exchanges not full on returns." -Kristen P.

The Ugly:

"I looked around a found a couple of pairs of shoes that were alright, but found mostly shoes for the older crowd I think. Upon closer inspection I noticed the shoes had a lot of flaws: a buckle missing here, a button gone there, heels that were worn down, a pair of flip flops were flat out broken. I asked one of the employees if this was a used shoes store and she said no, that they weren't used but overstock, like the kind of items you'd find at TJ Maxx or Marshall's. I'll have to call shenanigans on that. Maybe you can find some really good deals here, but I'm more in the market for cheap shoes that are new or at least don't need to have parts replaced before wearing them." -Ash C.

Sunday was spent receiving a surprise visit from my parents on their way back to Louisville, KY from a weekend with my Aunt and Uncle at the Beale Street Music Festival in Memphis, TN. (I spent the weekend chillen', my parents spent it at an awesome music festival... I wasn't aware until now that my parents are obviously waaaayyyy cooler than me.) I got to see tons of great photos from the fest and hear about the talented musicians they saw. 

All in all, this was just the weekend I needed.

William and Catherine Royal Wedding Red Carpet Report: The Pre-Wedding Gala Dinner at the Mandarin Oriental Hotel London!

Gowns Gowns and More Gowns...

Ladies In Red--and Orange: Crown Princess of Sweden, Countess of Wessex, Princess Mathilde of Belgium, Grand Duchess of Luxembourg

My faithful Royal Red Carpet Watchers and Readers: Here's what I think will be my final "Nick V. Royal Wedding Red Carpet Report" (for now!). It's from the very fabulous Pre-Wedding Gala Dinner given by Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II at the Mandarin Oriental Hotel in very posh Knightsbridge overlooking Hyde Park. The dinner was a Black Tie-Only affair with the ladies wearing Gowns Only. The Guest List was strictly reserved for the inner Royal Family, and all its associated members, as well as top royals from neighboring European countries --who are related to the UK Royals anyhow; first cousins, distant cousins... well, you get it, they're all "family".

Red Princess: Crown Princess Victoria of Sweden in Escada

In the first group of four (pictured above) are Crown Princess Victoria of Sweden, who looked SMASHING in a scarlet red draped silk crepe Escada gown held by a small diamond brooch. Next to her was Sophie Countess of Wessex Wife to Prince Edward, who also wore red--a red silk taffeta gown with interesting bust detail.

Orange High-Water Gown: Princess Mathilde of Belgium Duchess of Brabant

Next was Princess Mathilde of Belgium, seen above with her husband, Prince Philip of Belgium. She wore an orange scooped-neck shirred gown with cascade front drapes, which weirdly enough, made her look pregnant. It looked a bit ill-fitting and almost "off-the-rack", and THAT length?? What was that! FLOOR length darling! To the floor!!! Was she expecting a flood?

Duchess Elegance: Maria Theresa Grand Duchess of Luxembourg

And next to her was Cuban-born Maria Theresa Grand Duchess of Luxembourg with her husband, the Grand Duke of course. Much better than what we saw from her the day after at the actual Royal Wedding. At least here, she looks less like a Soccer Mom in a cheap suit from Dillard's and more an elegant Duchess!! Her hair looks FAB, the off-the-shoulder red gown with over-sized waist-bow detail is elegant and HELLO: It hits the FLOOR! She just gets my Instant Nick Love, just for that!

A-List Royal Guests: Princess Beatrice, Princess Tatiana of Greece and Denmark, Queen Elizabeth II

Above, three women who didn't disappoint--Royal Red Carpet style. Fashionista No. 1, Princess Beatrice--she of THE Hat that has its own Facebook Page!!--yes, her. Beatrice wore an ivory and silver metallic one-shoulder "Mermaid-shaped" gown by designer Rachel Gilbert. It's a bit "Priscilla Queen of the Desert" but I still say "At-A-Girl!". On her right is Princess Tatiana of Greece and Denmark, wife of Prince Nikolaos of Greece and Denmark.

She wore a navy blue silk satin strapless gown with grosgrain ribbon detailing from Giorgio Armani Spring 2011 Collection. Interesting that on the runway, the dress was shown in a more casual manner, above the floor and with flats, but on her, she correctly had it to the floor and wore it with heels.

The Queen Exotic: Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II

Then, there was the Hostess with the Mostess: Her Majesty The Queen. Three Words: You Go Girl! Only Elizabeth II can host a Black tie Royal Wedding Party in a brightly printed drop-waist gown in lilac with metallic details, gold pumps and matching gold leather handbag. The gown had a Near Orient motif which was perfect since the Dinner Party was at the Mandarin Oriental. A good hostess thinks of everything darlings, even coordinating her hosting gown with the locale!

Ball Gown Happy: Prince Felipe, Princess Letizia, Queen Sofia of Spain

A Trio of Royals: Prince Felipe of Spain, his wife, Princess Letizia and his mother, Queen Sofia showed up to the Night-Before Dinner dressed to the Nines! Felipe looked dapper in a complete tuxedo. So handsome. His mother, Queen Sofia was REGAL, in a bronzed taffeta ball gown from designer Margarita Nuez. She accessorized it with several layers of pashmina shawls to protect her from the cold London evening.

Princess Seam Princess: Princess Letizia of Spain in Felipe Varela

And to finish off the Spanish Royal contingency, Princess Letizia wore a lavender strapless gown with embroidered applique detail by Spanish designer Felipe Varela. I loved that she wore a ball gown, however, I just thought it was a rather "unexciting one". Basic sweetheart bustier neckline; princess seams...Seriously Letizia? There are soooo many more creative ball gown designs. This just seams so "pattern book" cookie cutter. It was pretty but very "David's Bridal 101".

Billion Dollar Man: Sultan of Brunei and his Queen

Sultan of Brunei, Sir Hassanal Bolkiah Mu'izzaddin Waddaulah and his first (and currently, only) wife (he had three total, but divorced two) Queen of Brunei, Pengiran Anak Saleha , who incidentally, is his first cousin (Hello!).

Margrethe II Queen of Denmark (above) was of course, invited to this Pre-Wedding Gala Dinner. She's known for her fluid but yet very sumptuous ball gowns--always in big (rather tacky) floral prints. But, this time, someone must have advised her correctly: She looked classy, restrained, and dare I say CHIC! Love th color contrast between the lavender and the chocolate silk satin. Margrethe II gets my "Most Improved Royal" award for this one.

Speaking of the Danes, above we have Queen Anne-Marie of Greece (she was born Princess of Denmark in Copenhagen). She looked quite elegant--and fun--in this flower-printed silk chiffon gown, bronze waist tie and gold shoes...and THAT necklace! As we know, Queen Anne-Marie is the wife of Constantine II, the former King of Greece (who is also Danish and from the same House of Schleswig-Holstein-Sonderburg-Glücksburg)...Where was the King, you might ask?

The wife to Prince Michael of Kent Grandson to King George V (above left), She wore a gorgeous chocolate brown silk draped-and-shirred gown with a stunning diamond brooch at the center front bust, a sequined clutch and bronzed satin shawl. She was definitely one of the most stylish royals that night, even with that 80's braided hairdo of hers.
